Summary
The American Medical Student Association is a collaboration of pre-medical students, medical students, interns, residents, and physicians in an effort to represent the concerns of physicians-in-training. Founded in 1950, AMSA is a student-governed, national organization committed to providing information, resources, and support for current, relevant medical issues as well as improving the nation's health and medical training. AMSA has a membership of over 30,000 health-motivated individuals across the nation, each doing their own part to better the health-care situation today. UCSD's Pre-Medical chapter is dedicated to providing valuable resources for pre-medical students here at UCSD, as well as presenting opportunities for involvement in the health-care community. This year, our chapter will also be partnering up with the UCSD Medical School chapter to provide mentoring and joint community activites for our pre-medical students. It will be a wonderful opportunity for students to learn what medical school is like and to make valuable connections with students who have already been through the rigorous admissions processes required for medical school.
